花は桜木 人は武士 
その桜木に 囲まるる
世を靖国の 御社
(みやしろ)
御国
(みくに)のために 潔(いさぎよ)
花と散りにし 人々の
(たま)はここにぞ 鎮(しず)まれる

Cherry among flowers, samurai among men
Surrounded by the blossoms is Yasukuni Shrine
With many souls of war fallen heros
Who fought for their fatherland and fell like the flowers
And they would rest here, meeting their brave end
Yasukuni where their spirits would take their last sleep


2.
命は軽
(かろ)く 義は重し
その義を践
(ふ)みて 大君に 
命ささげし 大丈夫
(ますらお)
(かね)の鳥居の 奥ふかく
神垣
(かみがき)高く まつられて
(ほまれ)は世々に 残るなり

Life was dear to them, but cause was dearer to them
Every man enshrined here died for the cause of peace
Giving their life for their nation and for their Lord
  And they were great men who acted bravely to the end
Deep in the shrine wood, behind the copper outer gate
  Enshrined in the high holy fence around the shrine


【注記】2番の1行目にある「命は軽く」の「軽く」は unimportant, uncherishableということだが、
私は「命は大事(dear)だが、もっと大事な(dearer)ものは大義だ」と解釈して英訳した。
